It can be found from the Scandinavian peninsula to East Asia and Japan. This bird also occurs in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and the southern Alps. It is an extremely rare species in Poland, but it can be observed in the Carpathians, Roztocze, Zamość, and Kielce regions.
The Ural owl is a large bird, its body length is 60 cm and its wingspan is 130 cm. There are two colors of this bird's plumage - white-gray and yellow-brown. Females are much larger than males, and the life span of the Ural Owl reaches 20 years.
